Bitwise Unveils Automated Tokenized Stock Portfolios

Bitwise has announced a novel offering, Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs), designed for eligible investors residing outside the United States. This innovative product allows these individuals to automatically track expertly crafted portfolios comprising tokenized U.S. equities, all while maintaining control of their assets within their personal digital wallets.

These rules-based portfolios are developed by Bitwise Investment Manager and leverage Coinbase's tokenized stock infrastructure, with implementation facilitated by Glider, an on-chain portfolio automation platform. Early ATP selections will concentrate on popular investment themes, including leading technology companies known as the "Magnificent 7," SpaceX, as well as firms at the forefront of robotics and artificial intelligence. Bitwise will apply a 0.15% methodology access fee, separate from any trading or platform-related expenses. Unlike traditional pooled investment vehicles, the ATP framework ensures that investors do not need to transfer ownership or custody of their assets, allowing the tokenized shares to remain securely in their non-custodial wallets.

This innovative approach of keeping assets on-chain could also unlock opportunities for investors to engage with decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems, potentially enabling activities such as lending or borrowing against their holdings. This launch represents another step in Bitwise's expanding suite of cryptocurrency products, following their collaboration with Morpho on non-custodial vaults for USDC yields and the introduction of professionally managed crypto portfolios for financial advisors and retail investors earlier this year. Bitwise's Bitcoin ETF, BITB, currently stands as the fifth-largest Bitcoin ETF in the U.S., holding approximately $3 billion in net assets.

The evolution of investment vehicles like Bitwise's Automated Token Portfolios underscores a significant trend towards greater financial empowerment and accessibility. By placing asset custody directly with investors and integrating with decentralized finance, these innovations pave the way for a more inclusive and flexible financial landscape, fostering individual control and unlocking new avenues for growth and participation in global markets.
