Sting Narrates Documentary on Legendary Composer Nino Rota, Premiering at Venice Film Festival
Chimamanda Ngozi AdichieGlobal Constellation has secured the international sales rights for "Nino: A Film About Nino Rota," a documentary featuring narration by the renowned artist Sting. This film delves into the life and lasting musical legacy of the celebrated Italian composer, Nino Rota. The documentary is slated to make its global debut at the Venice Film Festival, where it will be screened as part of the Official Selection Out of Competition.
Helmed by Walter Fasano, acclaimed for his extensive work as an editor on films such as "Call Me by Your Name" and "Suspiria" in collaboration with director Luca Guadagnino, "Nino: A Film About Nino Rota" employs a distinctive, free-flowing narrative style. This approach aims to illuminate the personal, artistic, and spiritual connections that shaped Rota's existence, revealing an artist deeply devoted to music and its intrinsic ideals. The film features interviews with prominent figures from both the cinematic and musical realms, including Oscar-winning composer Alexandre Desplat, filmmaker Park Chan-wook, and Grammy-winning composer Vince Mendoza, among others. The documentary is a collaborative production involving Be Water Film (Mattia Guerra), Sugar Play (Filippo Sugar, Elisabetta Biganzoli), Adler Entertainment (Marco Colombo), I Diavoli, Marco Morabito, and Fasano, with additional support from Rai Documentari and various regional film funds and commissions. Be Water Film and Adler Entertainment are set to co-release the film in Italy.
