Swarovski's Dazzling New Collection Unveiled at PFW

Swarovski's latest collection, under the artistic direction of Giovanna Englebert, recently captivated audiences at Paris Fashion Week. This presentation marked a significant moment, as it was the first time the brand fully revealed the expansive creative universe Englebert has been cultivating for the past six years. The collection spans from bold crystal adornments to exquisite fine jewelry featuring lab-grown diamonds, alongside vibrant decorative items drawing inspiration from the 18th-century Bergl apartments of Schönbrunn Palace.

Englebert's vision for this collection was ignited by an unexpected source: the 2025 Met Gala. She recounted how the gala's theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' sparked a realization about the inherent 'dandy' nature of Swarovski's iconic swan emblem. This interpretation led to the creation of lavish, feather-inspired crystal pieces, including a striking collar worn by Adut Akech, a meticulously embroidered blue coat for Sora Choi adorned with over 50,000 Swarovski elements, and a dramatic feathered necklace and headpiece chosen for the red carpet. These designs epitomize an 'unapologetically glamorous' aesthetic. The collection also introduces innovative crystal cuts, such as large, flat, faceted discs, a testament to the brand's engineering prowess, which Englebert proudly described as 'shiny and very sparkly.'

Beyond the grandeur of statement pieces, Englebert also delved into the realm of ready-to-wear, crafting a trio of crystal-embellished mini-dresses. One particularly swan-like bustier is set to feature prominently in Swarovski's upcoming holiday campaign, gracing Ariana Grande. Englebert emphasized the desire to portray the swan in a modern, abstract, yet iconic manner through these designs. Furthermore, color takes center stage in the new collection. The celebrated Millenia line receives a vibrant update with new additions in rich blues, greens, pinks, and yellows, colors that have already been seen on high-profile figures like Madonna and the Queen of Sweden. A new 'Pop' story merges contrasting hues, such as purple and teal pavé and glaze, into retro-modern shapes. Englebert likened these pieces to 'a child’s dream of a mother’s necklace, with big, juicy proportions that are ultra-fun,' blending influences from the '60s and '80s. This playful line is notably accompanied by a matching jeweled bra, meticulously set with crystal cabochons, which the designer humorously deemed 'very necessary' for showcasing the diverse aesthetics of the Swarovski woman.

The collection stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of historical inspiration, contemporary design, and innovative craftsmanship. Englebert's tenure has clearly redefined Swarovski's aesthetic, pushing boundaries while honoring its rich heritage. The result is a diverse and captivating array of creations that celebrate the brilliance of crystal in all its forms, from subtle elegance to flamboyant grandeur.
