Neon to Produce Fictional SCP Foundation Anthology Feature

Neon, a film distributor known for its successful genre releases like 'Backrooms' and 'Obsession,' has announced its intention to develop an anthology feature film. This project will draw inspiration from the extensive fan-generated horror and science fiction narratives found within the SCP Foundation mythology. The movie is slated for a theatrical debut in 2027 and will operate under a Creative Commons license, highlighting an open-source approach to content creation.

This upcoming production seeks to leverage the collaborative spirit of the SCP Wiki, a speculative fiction website established in 2008 that has cultivated a vast and dedicated global audience. Neon intends to collaborate closely with the SCP Wiki community to ensure that the film aligns with the site's mission and licensing guidelines, emphasizing a harmonious relationship between commercial production and fan-driven content. The studio aims to feature contributions from emerging filmmakers, continuing its track record in the genre, which includes films such as Osgood Perkins' 'Longlegs,' starring Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage, and 'The Monkey.'

Expanding on its diverse portfolio, Neon has recently presented Alex Ullom’s 'It Ends,' a breakout success from SXSW, and is also developing his next film, '4 x 4: The Event.' Other notable projects from Neon include Osgood Perkins’ 'The Young People,' David Robert Mitchell’s 'They Follow,' Matt Johnson’s 'The Vice Guide,' and Arie and Chuko Esiri’s 'Clarissa.' Beyond genre films, Neon has also achieved critical acclaim with Oscar-nominated and winning pictures, including Sean Baker’s 'Anora' and Bong Joon Ho’s 'Parasite,' showcasing its versatility and commitment to compelling storytelling across various cinematic styles.

By embracing and adapting community-created content like the SCP Foundation, Neon demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to filmmaking, recognizing the power of collective imagination and fostering a new generation of cinematic talent. This endeavor not only promises to bring unique narratives to the big screen but also celebrates the rich, interactive world that fans have built, underscoring the vibrant interplay between digital communities and the traditional film industry.
